2022 GMC Sierra 1500

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 comes in eight trims: the entry-level Pro, SLE, AT4, SLT, Elevation, AT4X, Denali, and the range-topping Denali Ultimate. This truck looks bold and masculine with its tough stance and squared-off lines. Up front, it features a blocky grille, clamp-shaped headlights, and a high bumper that give it an aggressive and distinctive appearance. A strong shoulder line and square wheel arches contribute to a muscular side profile. The Denali Ultimate sets itself apart from the other trims with its unique “Vader” chrome grille and 22-inch low-gloss black aluminum wheels.

The new GMC Sierra 1500 has four engine options for you to choose from. The standard engine is a 2.7-liter turbo-four rated at 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. For more power, you can opt for the 5.3-liter V-8 that generates 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque or the 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Also available is a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel that serves up 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, which enables the truck to tow up to 13,200 pounds. The base turbo-four is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the other engines work with a 10-speed automatic. All models equipped with the 10-speed automatic get shift paddles.

Despite its hefty size and weight, the GMC Sierra 1500 is surprisingly pleasant to drive. It's relatively easy to maneuver in tight quarters, making it a good vehicle for urban commuting. Additionally, this truck has a compliant suspension that enables it to ride smoothly and comfortably over bumps and rough surfaces. It also demonstrates minimal body lean around turns and impressive stability at high speeds.

If you choose the Regular Cab body style, the GMC Sierra 1500 can accommodate only three people. A Double Cab or Crew Cab model, on the other hand, has a maximum seating capacity of six. The front seats are spacious and well-cushioned and provide a commanding view of the road. The rear seats of the Double Cab are adult-friendly, but they aren't as inviting as those of the Crew Cab, which are downright expansive. The base Pro trim is equipped with a 7-inch touch-screen display, a six-speaker audio system, a USB port, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Every other trim gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.4-inch touch screen that incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Google apps.
