2021 GMC Yukon XL
The 2021 GMC Yukon XL is unsurprisingly big in terms of size and market offerings. From the sleek decals to the spacious interior, this large SUV is a stylish family assistant with plenty of creature comforts to spare.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
This model comes in SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali trims. Standard accessories include black assist steps, body-color inserts for the door handles and mirrors, bright roof-mounted side rails, and surrounding LED lamps. A manual rear hatch is also a base-level addition, while higher trims opt for a hands-free power liftgate.
Other premium upfits range from an ascending front fascia to satin chrome moldings to a pair of splash guards. A set of 18- to 22-inch wheels, with a variety of paint finishes, round out the exterior options.
Engine (Power)
This SUV features a 5.3-liter V-8 and 10-speed automatic transmission to start. Together they generate 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. They also couple with dynamic fuel management, an electronic precision shifter, and engine air filtration monitoring. Two additional units are up for grabs. The first is a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel six-cylinder engine producing 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The second is a 6.2-liter V-8 that yields the same amount of torque and a greater horsepower of 420.
Performance
The all-new GMC Yukon XL boasts a rear-wheel-drive chassis that partners with all-season blackwall tires, hill start assist, and a smooth ride suspension. Basic towing equipment is also included, while an available max trailering package helps push your capabilities to 8,300 pounds.
Furthermore, four-wheel-drive is standard on the AT4 and optional on other trims. Additional upgrades comprise an adaptive air ride suspension, magnetic ride control, a performance exhaust system, and six-piston front Brembo brakes. Not to mention, you have access to a couple of off-road essentials: hill descent control, red recovery hooks, and a performance skid plate.
Interior
Cabin offerings for this SUV are extravagant, from the front power bucket seats to the leather-wrapped steering wheel to the tri-zone air conditioning. You'll notice ample passenger and cargo space as well, including 40-plus inches of front head and legroom, 144.7 cubic feet of storage room, and seating for seven to eight occupants. The infotainment features also supplement the setting via a 10.2-inch touch screen, SiriusXM Radio, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
Upper tiers flaunt higher-end amenities such as all-weather flooring, bright sill plates, heated and cooled front seats, and perforated leather upholstery. The multimedia options further add to the digital display; these consist of a Bose sound system, wireless charging hub, and rear entertainment system featuring a 12.6-inch color screen and dual headphones.
Safety Features
The 2021 GMC Yukon XL debuts a commendable safety lineup. You've got seven air bags, front pedestrian braking, an HD rearview camera, and teen driver monitoring at your disposal. Meanwhile, an electrical theft-deterrent system helps keep your vehicle within reach at all times. Advanced options include automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. A 15-inch head-up display is also on the market. It projects helpful vehicle information on the windshield without disrupting your view of the road.
