There are plenty of beautiful parks that offer recreational activities throughout the year in and around Milwaukee, WI. Play baseball, basketball, soccer, and tennis, enjoy scenic picnics on the banks of the Milwaukee River, canoe and kayak, and stroll down beautiful nature trails.

1. Virmond Park

Visit the 63-acre Virmond Park for a day of sports activities and enjoy panoramic views of Lake Michigan. The park has tennis and volleyball courts, a soccer field, and a baseball diamond. Take a stroll on one of the trails through the nature preserve, enjoy the view from the pavilion, and have a picnic at one of the picnic spots overlooking the lake.

2. Mee-Kwon Park

The 63.4-acre Mee-Kwon Park boasts the MeeKwon Golf Course with a golf shop and practice facility, a large fishing pond, and natural woodlands. The pet-friendly park is a popular destination for scenic picnics, strolls through the beautiful mature woods, sledding and snowboarding down Mule Hill, and ice skating on the pond in winter.

3. Ehlers Park

Enjoy a peaceful day along the shores of the Milwaukee River fishing, paddling, birdwatching, and picnicking. Stroll through the picturesque 10.9-acre park along 2,200 feet of shoreline, paddle down the river, and enjoy scenic picnics on the banks. Paddlers either launch their canoes or kayaks from here or use this pretty little wayside park as a rest stop along the river. In winter, the park is a popular destination for snowmobile clubs.

4. Waubedonia Park

If you want to escape for a weekend, Waubedonia Park on the banks of the Milwaukee River is the ideal getaway. The park has ten rustic campsites on the banks where anglers hook smallmouth bass and northern pike from their camp chairs.

The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise with an abundance of migrating birds. There are two baseball diamonds and three tennis courts. The kayak and canoe launch is free of charge, and there is a pavilion with electricity, picnic tables, and a large grill.

5. Tendick Nature Park

Take a few hours out of your schedule and spend quality time with your family and friends at the 142-acre Tendick Nature Park. Take a relaxing walk down the boardwalk through the wetland area, play a challenging game of disc golf, canoe and kayak down the Milwaukee River, and have a barbecue at one of the picnic areas. The park also has an archery range, pavilion, and restroom facilities.

6. Rotary Park

Enjoy 75-acres of outdoor activities at Rotary Park that provide plenty of space for kids to burn off energy. There is a basketball court, soccer field, and a playground. Pack a picnic basket and enjoy a barbeque, bring your fishing gear to wet your hook in the fishing pond, and take a hike down the trail. The park has a pavilion, a shelter, and restrooms.

7. Lemke Park

The 41-acre Lemke Park is your one-stop destination for outdoor sports activities. Here you can play baseball, basketball, and soccer and shoot off a few arrows at the archery range. The park also has a walking trail, and you and your family and friends can have a bite to eat at one of the picnic tables or get together for a barbecue.

8. Mequon Community Park

The park is just the spot to cool down on a hot summer’s day. The highlight is the lighted outdoor pool, and families gather here in the summer months to play baseball, enjoy picnics, and take a dip in the pool. The park has play equipment, the Tot Lot for the little ones, and restroom facilities.
