2022 GMC Yukon
If you're planning to buy a large SUV, you should include the 2022 GMC Yukon in your shortlist. This full-size SUV is an exceptionally well-made vehicle that excels in almost every department, from performance to technology. Check out this overview of the new GMC Yukon to see if it suits your transportation needs and lifestyle.
Trim Levels
The 2022 GMC Yukon is available in four trim levels: the base SLE, SLT, the off-road-focused AT4, and the range-topping Denali. This SUV exudes a commanding road presence with its towering dimensions and imposing stance. It features a massive grille and C-shaped headlamps that contribute to a bold, truck-like appearance. In contrast, its tapering roof-line, sculpted sides, and sporty rear hatch give it a sleek, stylish appeal. The AT4 looks ready for an adventure with its matte black trim and visible skid plates, while the Denali wears a honeycomb grille and additional chrome trim for a more stately appearance.
Engine
The base engine of the GMC Yukon is a 5.3-liter V-8 that produces 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. If you decide to buy the AT4 or Denali, you'll have access to a 6.2-liter V-8 rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, the SUV can sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in about six seconds, which is impressive for such a large vehicle. In addition, you can opt for a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six that develops 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
All three engines work with a 10-speed automatic transmission to deliver power to the rear wheels or optionally all four wheels. With the proper equipment, the Yukon is capable of towing up to 8,400 pounds.
Performance
Although it's a full-size SUV, the GMC Yukon is fairly easy to maneuver in confined situations such as heavy traffic and parking lots, making it a great vehicle for urban commuting. Furthermore, it feels well-planted and composed on winding roads and
rides smoothly over bumps and potholes. If you regularly drive away from the pavement, it's a good idea to get the AT4, which comes with off-road-oriented features such as a two-speed transfer case, underbody skid plates, 20-inch all-terrain tires, and an available air suspension.
Interior
The 2022 GMC Yukon seats up to eight people in three rows. Every row of seats provides ample legroom and headroom for even tall adults to stretch out. The interior of this SUV is one of the most upscale in the segment, featuring a generous amount of premium materials and soft-touch surfaces. Additionally, the Yukon offers an extensive list of standard infotainment features, including a 10.2-inch touch screen, a 12-inch digital gauge display, a six-speaker audio system, six USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD radio, satellite radio, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Safety Features
Every trim of the GMC Yukon has a rich array of standard driver-assistance features to help you stay safe on the road. These features include forward-collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, front pedestrian braking, a rearview camera, rear-seat reminder, and teen-driver monitoring.
