2022 GMC Sierra 2500
If you're looking for a full-size pickup truck with excellent work capabilities, the 2022 GMC Sierra is a great option. This heavy-duty truck comes with stout engines that enable it to tow and haul incredibly heavy loads. It also offers a comfortable ride and a roomy cabin. Take a closer look at the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 to determine if it's the right truck for you.
Trim Levels
For the 2022 model year, the GMC Sierra 2500 is offered in five trim levels: the base Pro, SLE, SLT, the off-road-oriented AT4, and the top-of-the-line Denali. This truck features an exterior styling that aptly reflects its tough and macho personality. From the front, it looks bold and imposing with its tall stance, strong shoulders, massive grille, and bulging hood scoop. While its sides are mostly flat, it has flared hexagonal wheel arches that add a touch of ruggedness. Around the back, most models feature a multifunction tailgate.
Engine
The standard engine of the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 is a 6.6-liter V-8 that generates 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, this engine enables the truck to haul 4,534 pounds with single rear wheels and 7,442 pounds with dual rear wheels.
While it has a lower payload rating than the standard engine, the optional 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V-8 is the better option for towing. This power plant puts out 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque, which is enough for towing 20,000 pounds with a conventional hitch and a remarkable 35,500 pounds with a fifth-wheel hitch. It works with a slick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
Unlike most other big trucks, the GMC Sierra 2500 is relatively easy to drive, even in an urban setting. This is partly because it has a variable-ratio steering rack that improves its maneuverability. In addition, this truck is equipped with a compliant independent
front suspension that enables it to deliver a smooth and comfortable ride over uneven surfaces. Its powerful and responsive brakes further enhance its on-road responsiveness.
Interior
The GMC Sierra 2500 comes in three body styles: Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab. No matter which configuration you choose, the truck has wide and accommodating front seats. However, if you routinely drive around with adult passengers in the back, it's recommended that you opt for a Crew Cab model, which offers more than 43 inches of rear legroom. The truck comes standard with cloth upholstery, but you can get supple leather seats by climbing the trim ladder.
To provide a great in-vehicle experience, the Sierra 2500 is equipped with a nice selection of standard infotainment features. These features include an 8-inch touch-screen display, USB ports, Bluetooth, HD radio, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
Safety Features
Every GMC Sierra 2500 model offers a rearview camera and teen-driver monitoring as standard equipment. For improved safety, you can add available features such as forward-collision alert, following-distance indicator, lane-departure alert, lane-changing warning, rear cross-traffic warning, front and rear parking assistance, a surround-view camera system, and a safety alert seat.
